As of summer 2016, Hawker House is now home to the thoroughly awesome "Land of Bamboo", complete with tiki huts, sandpits, trampolines and a giant fire pit, perfect for enjoying great company and great food in a chilled out party atmosphere. Open every Friday and Saturday from 5pm until midnight.
ABOUT THE MARKET
Just like Dalston Yard, Lewisham’s Model Market and Shoreditch’s Dinerama, Hawker House (a five minute saunter from Canada Water station) is another phenomenally popular street food market with a party atmosphere from serial market-starters Street Feast. Well liked by both locals and visiting foodies looking for a fun, sociable spot to enjoy the finest street food in South London, Hawker House is now home to 19 purveyors of exceptional and eclectic food and drink, in a vibrant, youthful location.
London-based food blogger Dominic of Samphire & Salsify has a particular soft spot for Hawker House: "What I love about Hawker House is there's so much good food with varied choice all under one roof. You can go with 6 friends and there's something to keep everyone quiet. And it's got that house party atmosphere - just without the crappy cleaning up bit afterwards". He’s hooked on Prawnography’s XL Prawns which are "drenched in garlic butter. They're super fresh, giant and cooked to perfection. Get a side of bacon wrapped scallops and you'll be a happy chappy guaranteed".
If seafood isn’t for you, there are plenty of other global delicacies to try at Hawker House. Head to the Breddos Tacos stand for a taste of their mind-blowing "I’m Not Your Father" taco, complete with 60 hour slow roasted beef, crunchy candied chilli, chunky guacamole and Breddos’ special hot sauce. For a more unusual taco experience, order a Korean taco from the amazing Kimchinary, or for something totally different, make a stop at the Chuck Truck from Chuck Burgers for a juicy handful of all American meaty goodness.
